Allegheny Country Club

The Mario Lemieux Foundation partnered with the Western PA Wounded Heroes Fund to hold the first annual Western PA Wounded Heroes Fund Golf Classic on September 18, 2017, at Allegheny Country Club. The event raised over $100,000 for Austin’s Military Playrooms, as well as the Gary Sinise Foundation. This event is hosted by the Western PA Wounded Heroes Fund: A group of passionate veterans committed to giving back to our nation’s heroes, and committed to raising awareness and monies for veterans, wounded service members, their children and caregivers, and also provide resources for active duty warriors. They are partnering with the Mario Lemieux Foundation to hold this event and direct proceeds towards veterans and their families through Austin’s Military Playrooms and other charities.

The 2018 Western PA Wounded Heroes Fund Golf Classic will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Allegheny Country Club.  More information will be announced later this spring!

Proceeds from the 2017 Event Benefitted:

Austin’s Military Playrooms

An initiative of the Mario Lemieux Foundation, Austin’s Military Playrooms are cheerful playrooms for children and families of our veterans and active duty warriors. The playrooms provide a safe, calming and comfortable environment within military medical facilities for our special military families. Austin’s Playrooms allow families the ability to escape the burden of difficult or often extended medical situations and focus on health and healing. Austin’s Military Playrooms are currently operating in three locations: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune.

Gary Sinise Foundation

The Gary Sinise Foundation serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. They do this through a variety of programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities. This includes their R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) which builds specially adapted smart homes for America’s severely wounded defenders. Each home features automated amenities to ease the daily challenges these heroes face.
